Images of Africa: How is Africa presented in the media?

This is a seminar for media practitioners, students of journalism and community groups on issues relating to how the continent of Africa is presented in Ireland.

This event is co-hosted by Suas and the DCU School of Communications as part of the DCU Intercultural Festival.

• How do mainstream Irish media present Africa?
• How can Africans present positive images of their homeland?
• What is the impact of images on Africans in Ireland, especially young people?
• What is the role of the Irish government in presenting Africa?

The seminar is a follow-on from a similar event held in Cork co-hosted with Connect-World as part of the European Building Unity Through Diversity campaign, co-ordinated in Ireland by Suas in association with Concern.
